My Special Secret
I am concerned about sharing my pregnancy publicly. Telling our friends and family was fun, however telling the world is scary.
I’m not hiding the pregnancy, however I want to disclose it on my terms. I don’t want customers or potential investors to find out about it online. I want to tell them. Face to face. I want to talk with them why I won’t miss a beat or drop a ball during the next 8 months or after the baby is born. It is my duty to express to them my husband’s plans to be a stay-at-home dad, and show them a photo of the bassinets we have set up in both his home office, and his office-office.
I want to tell them on my accord. My timing. After I get my foot in the door.
I am concerned that if venture capital firms find out I’m pregnant they won’t want to meet with me. It makes me “high risk” for doing my job effectively and efficiently. I hope I’m wrong, but my sense is that in business, fewer doors are open to pregnant women.
Therefore, I’ve purposefully withheld it.
I’m more than a pregnant woman…
I’m a wife, daughter, friend.
I’m an entrepreneur.
I’m a student of the world.
I’m an animal lover.
I’m a cyclist, soccer player and wanna-be chef.
I’m a blogger.
I’m an employer.
I’m a philanthropist.
I’m a world traveler.
I’m me. More than a mom-to-be.
Who are you?
